I’m currently about 4 hours into Mass Effect 2 and just about everything has been improved. The story is epic, characters return in mind blowing ways, and that teaser showing Shepard dead is partly true. Other than that, I can’t tell you anything about the game until I’ve given you time to play. Just know, that right now, I’m calling it: Game of the Year 2010.

Some things to know when starting Mass Effect 2:

EA has this rediculous download system where you have to log into their system, put in your redeem code, and then eventually it’ll show on your console where you can download it.

If you have a character from before, import them. Some benefits include: Starting at a higher level with credits, (if old character was level 60) get the “Long Service” achievement for Mass Effect 2 on your first play through, and of course, parts of the story are changed in Mass Effect 2.

And now onto the news:

Leaked Mass Effect 2 DLC: Microsoft accidentally released all the Mass Effect 2 DLC for free days before it came out. The mistake was quickly fixed, but not before many gamers got their hands on it.

Cliffy-B and Wayne: Microsoft released a video in the marketplace today showing the icy tundra from Lost Planet. The biggest difference, well Dom and Marcus are blowing up ice insects. No real details yet, but it appears that the Gears of War characters will be playable (I’m guessing for multiplayer only) in Lost Planet 2.

Puts the Nail in the Coffin: The Nintendo Wii clutched the remake of NBA Jam and somehow this IGN writer thinks this is part of some Nintendo “Hardcore Gaming” strategy. We all loved NBA Jam, but I’d hardly classify playing two on two arcade basketball as Bill Clinton as “hardcore.”

T-Virus Outbreak: Capcom has answered my prayers. Showing off the first Resident Evil 5 DLC, gaming nerds everywhere rejoiced as we looked at what appeared to be a high definition version of Resident Evil 1. Jill and Chris infiltrate another Spencer mansion and we get a little more Wesker.

White people news: Apple is set to announce their iTablet prompting white people with too much money and tech addicted fanboys everywhere to drop more money on yet another piece of hardware Apple will update every year. This will also mean more iGames and more iNews and more iSnuggness.

  1. I was calling Mass Effect 2 Game of the Year about 20 minutes into it. Without any spoilers, that entire introduction sequence was more cinematic than I have ever seen a game before.

  2. that entire introduction sequene was more cinematic then most of the movies I saw last year!
