Now the gamer training is complete. This person plays on his/her own and tells you the stories of getting two headshots with one bullet.

The important thing now is to catch the person up on a history of gaming. I’m assuming this gamer hasn’t played anything since Genesis or Super NES, and when they played those systems they weren’t playing the Final Fantasy imports and they certainly haven’t downloaded any ROMs.

By now the gamer formerly known as the non-gamer is probably wanting to play games on their own time. Their guild master was probably killed by the evil king, but they still want to quest in tandem. Leveling up takes a bit longer so giant leaps in skill sets are going to be fewer are far between. Find interesting games to keep the person distracted while they collect 23,000 experience to hit level 21.

So by now the non-gamer has joined a guild, learned a couple of basic spells, and probably has some metal armor. After they’ve exhausted “baby games,” where is the next quest?

Briefly I thought about titling this article “Making your Girlfriend Fall in Love with Master Chief,” but then I had a flash back to the gay black man at EB Games that I chatted up. He complained his significant other hated all games except Viva Pinata. When I started thinking about it, most the girls I hang around enjoy gaming. And I know just as many guy friends that don’t play games. So this once sexist article has now become a general “how-to” guide on converting.
